A 15-minute walk away is the world famous 10,500-hectare Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, which incorporates five tropical life zones.

Fonda Vela has 40 rooms in 9 separate buildings. Most of the rooms are handicap accessible. New rooms (suites) aim for deluxe, with huge bathrooms and beautiful fixtures and furniture.  Older rooms are more rustic but have greater charm, with wood-panelled walls and huge windows - most giving astonishing views, especially at sunset.
