Our family had the best vacation to Costa Rica. We thoroughly enjoyed every part of our trip. The easy system of booking online and printing out our vouchers was very easy for us to travel. The accommodations at all of our destinations in Costa Rica were comfortable and clean and had what we needed for our family with young children. Your local provider was also exceptional when we used the shuttle vans to help us get from place to place. Every driver and van was comfortable and helpful. I have already and will continue to recommend and use your website in the future. The one recommendation I have is with the customer service people on the phone before booking my trip I had to call to ask questions about travelling. I found that there were a couple of people that were more helpful than others. It would be great if all of the customer service were trained in knowing information about the travel destinations that are offered. Thank you for the wonderful trip and providing service to give our family an amazing experience.

Overall the trip was good. Hotels were nice and met all my expectations. The taxi ride from San Jose to Puerto Viejo Limon seemed over booked. There was not enough room for everyone and their luggage, which made the ride uncomfortable. I would probably recommend your website to a friend. The website was easy to use and I also liked that the trip could be easily changed.

Our vacation was great! We stayed in Puerto Viejo at Hotel Cariblue, in Sarapiqui at La Selva Verde, and in Arenal at Hotel Magic Mountain. All of the transfers in between hotels were timely and the drivers were very knowledgeable and friendly. We would definitely recommend this trip to friends. Thanks!

5 - Limon Beach - Sarapiqui Rainforest - Arenal
Greetings,
I am more than happy to assist you with an evaluation of our time in Costa Rica. According to my wife, `It was the best vacation of my whole life`. You have to know that we have traveled extensively around the world and by far, the experiences, the people and the opportunities that were afforded my wife, my newly graduated high school daughter and my aspiring chef son, we all agreed. It was the best vacation ever.
We were greeted at the San Jose airport by the liaison. It was very late. We were not sure if a shuttle to and from the hotel was part of the package. He made sure that we were immediately served by a nearby driver. My wife speaks Spanish, and he told the driver to take us to the Grano de Oro Hotel and that we were very tired from our long journey and to be very careful. At the Hotel, we were met with a very gracious man who immediately had everything arranged for us to have a night`s rest. The hotel was beautifully appointed. The room was spacious and clean. In the morning, we had the most delightful breakfast and served by a wonderful wait staff. Since our son is studying the culinary arts, he was especially watchful of all aspects of presentation as well as taste and the care of the staff. We ate in the open courtyard and it was all delightful. Our son gave them 10 out of 10 points. The granola, he stated, was the best he had ever had and wants to know the recipe!
Since we were running a bit behind, our server contacted the front desk to let the driver who would transport us to Puerto Viejo we were be present shortly. The driver introduced himself to us as Misael Mena. He insisted that we not rush as the beach and the ocean would not disappear if we took the time to not gulp down our food. Throughout the transport, `Misa` immediately connected with all four of us. He was absolutely hilarious and made the long travel go by very quickly. He was extremely sensitive to any needs we had. In fact, we had such a wonderful time; we requested that he would also be our driver on our way from Arenal to San Jose. He was extremely knowledgeable and interesting.
At the Azania Bungalows, we were greeted by Ana. She was there every day of our stay. We opted to rent a car during our 3 days. Ana made sure that we were totally set with everything and informed us where to buy gasoline and some other nearby attractions that were not tourist oriented. The person from the car rental was very kind and thoughtful as well. We were unaware the bungalows were not air conditioned. Although it was a bit uncomfortable, by the second night we were able to acclimate ourselves to the severe humid. The entire staff was very help and kind. The kitchen staff was unbelievably attentive and interactive.
Our next transport to Sarapiqui was with a young gentleman who was very courteous and kind. At La Quinta, it was a wonderful experience with an organization that worked so hard at being self-sustaining. After an evening`s walk, we had a conversation with an elderly woman who lived in the small town up the road. As my wife and the woman chatted, we asked permission to take a picture. At first, the woman refused stating that she was much too old and boring to have as remembrance. My wife convinced her by telling her that the soul or `alma` of this beautiful country was the people. The woman gave her consent. After they chatted for a while, and we bid each other goodbye, my wife told me to turn and wave again. The woman came running with a pineapple in each hand and told us that we could not possibly leave her home without tasting the delicious pineapples of that region. She then gave a hug and kisses to each of us and gave us a blessing. It is a remarkable memory my wife will cherish in her heart. As it turned out, the woman`s granddaughter worked at La Quinta. We were able to send her the picture of her of the two women sitting together. The granddaughter wrote back and stated that her grandmother was thrilled to have us. The front desk person then ordered the chef to prepare the pineapples which we shared with others. Again, `Best Pineapple Ever` and it wasn`t even stolen!
The staff was wonderful and made sure we were aware of the wonderful opportunities for white water rafting. We did go on an excursion with Stephen -a Scotsman- who had lived in Costa Rica and Mexico for years. He was absolutely marvelous at putting my family at ease as this was their first time rafting. He made sure we understood all manners of safety and we enjoyed the ride of our lives! The rest of the staff were fun and knowledgeable. We have incredible pictures from their staff to remember our journey to this beautiful area.
The transport to Arenal was with Christian. Since this was a shorter distance, we did not get to know him as well, but he too, was very knowledgeable and pointed out numerous facts of interest along the way. At Arenal Paraiso we were somewhat taken aback at the size of the rooms. Luckily, the front office immediately upgraded us to the larger unit. We were extremely comfortable at 403. We enjoyed all the amenities of the hotel including their many pools, their wonderful spa where my wife and daughter were treated to an evening of relaxation. `Jasmine` was my wife`s clinician. Again, the connection the woman made with my wife was wonderful. Not to mention, again, ?Best Spa Ever` to Jasmine and the staff. Victor, the excursion specialist at the hotel was very good at recommending which excursions to experience with the limited of time we were there. We did take the river tour of Rio Frio and saw three different types of monkeys and a wide variety of wildlife. The absolute incredible incident happened when one of the passengers spotted a stranded ewe lamb on the banks of the river. There were Cayman`s everywhere along with numerous large birds that were circling overhead. Our guide, Gustavo, ordered the driver of the boat to go to the bank. Gustavo then saved the lamb and carried him all the way to the home of the nearby farmer. We all cheered! Our daughter did capture this incident on video.
The final hurrah was a first ever zip line through the cloud forest. Unfortunately, we cannot remember our guide`s names, but they were all incredible. My wife who is a psychotherapist by profession wanted to conquer her fear of heights. Unfortunately, when she got to the flight of stairs to go to the first platform, she frozen. The head guide talked her through, gently and I might say clinically sound to finally trust him to actually go off the first platform! She went through the entire course and loved it!
On our way back to San Jose, Misa was our driver. It was like meeting an old friend. He wanted to hear of all our adventures. We knew that he`s heard this all so many times, but he listened intently and shared the joy and laughter of the unforgettable time we had. We went back to the Grano de Oro and had reservations for dinner. Again, we were not disappointed. However, our 20 year old son fell ill suddenly. Again, the front desk staff and others were very helpful. An ambulance was called and under the direction of the paramedics our son was transported to Clinica Biblica. The staff at the hotel gave us a card and stated that if we needed help with transportation or reworking our flights, to call them and they would assist us in any way possible. Fortunately, he was found to be dehydrated from trekking through the grounds at Arenal and he was released. The staff was incredible and compassionate at the Grano de Oro and we would like for them to know what it meant to us for them to go the second mile.
We cannot say enough about the experiences. So much of this is attitude, but the attitude of everyone we encountered was positive, open and most of all genuine. We typically have never gone back to a place that we visited, but Costa Rica will be that exception. It felt like home, but Indiana is not a tropical paradise. It was better than home, it felt like family. Thank you for the privilege to experience the life of such exceptional people in such an exceptional land.

First our flight was delayed so I was worried that we would miss the person we were supposed to meet at the airport in costa rica, so I emailed latin destinations from the airport to let them know about the delay and with in minutes I was assured that someone would stay to meet us in Costa Rica no matter what time we came in. *GREAT

The hotels we stayed in were great
Britannia - San Jose - Was fine, it did the job for one night. the people were helpful and friendly
Transportation to Limon, puerto viejo, was a shared bus/van. Very comfortable even for my 6`8" boyfriend.
Hotel Cariblue - Puerto Viejo - Limon was great better than the pictures! Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and close enough to town and to the fabulous beach
Transportation to Sarapiqui - private and again very comfortable and a great driver, very nice and informative about where we were driving and what we saw.
El Bambu - nice hotel but did not have the best information on tours. that`s all I would change
Transporation to Arenal - private and again very comfortable and a great driver, very nice and informative about where we were driving and what we saw.
Lomas Del volcan - Amazing what a great way to end our great trip!

I didn`t have to worry about a single thing the entire trip, it was a true vacation and I have already recommended Latin Destinations to my parents.
