Trip Summary
2 nights in Panama City - Canal

Panama City is a delightful combination of the historic and the modern, in one of Latin America's most beautiful and cosmopolitan cities, and for travelers wanting to escape to warm tropical shores, there is no hotter destination. Known to many a the home of the Panama Canal, this exhilarating is just a stone's throw from some of some Central America's richest rain forests, and complex eco systems.

Panama City has long been known as an international crossroads, given its position as one the, if not the Latin capital of international finance, which has helped to make it extremely welcoming towards visitors, and although it is broken into numerous neighborhoods or "corregimientos" there are really the equivalent of Three Cities here that are historically, architecturally, in some ways culturally distinct. There is the modern city with the huge skyscrapers housing many of financial institutions that make their home here, the Colonial-era "Casco Viejo" and "Panama Viejo" with the remnants of the original colonial city, the first in the Americas on the Pacific coast.

Panama is a relatively small country, approximately the size of South Carolina, which means that many of its most exciting attractions are within driving distance which makes Panama City-Canal the perfect base of operations for a wide variety of daytrips or as a hub for, multi-night stays in other great Panamanian destinations. With great tours of the Canal, the Old Cities, canopy adventures, trips to indigenous villages, excursions to some of Central Americas most beautiful and bio rich national parks. World class hotels, restaurants, shopping, and spectacular night life has made this a one of Latin America?s most popular cities with international travelers for business and pleasure, and a city that regularly surpasses visitors expectations.

Panama City can easily be linked with other exquisite beach, dive, cultural and eco destinations both in Panama, and throughout Latin America.

Over all it was a wonderful experience. Everything went smooth and we had no surprises. The hotel in Panama City, Holiday Inn, was pretty good. Bocas del toro, Playa tortuga hotel was modest, but clean. Everywhere very friendly people. The best part of our trip was spending a few days in Boquete, we stayed at Casa del Risco. This is a must see place! The beauty of the nature, the elegance of the hotel........amazing! From Boquete we went to Finca Lerida another beautiful area to see and enjoy. Just gorgeous! A must see. Thank you!

With one exception everything went well and we were picked up and dropped off right on schedule. The driver that was supposed to pick us up for the Monkey Island Tour did not show up, but I was able to contact your local provider and they sent another driver over right away. We did miss the tour time that we were scheduled for but they were able to fit us in on the next one, so it all worked out ok. Incidentally, the phone number for your local provider that is printed on all of our trip vouchers and other paperwork is disconnected. Decapolis Hotel was able to find another phone number for them and make the connection for us. Overall a good trip and we would/have recommended your website to friends.

Hi. You folks along with your local operator did a great job. All our transfers were handled efficiently and were right on time. A special note of thanks for Gisele. She was courteous and very helpful and deserves a big applause. I would not reccomend a stay at the Country Inn and Suits Amador. Although there staff was very nice, the place itself is quite run down. We elected to pay a little extra on our return leg and stay in town at the Bristol. The advice to stay just outside of town is a good one however. Panama city is into a massive building boom which makes everything dusty, noisy and jamed up in traffic. We thought the renovations going on at the `Old Town` (not by the ruins which are really the oldest part of Panama) were really something. In about 5 years it`s going to be a place people will want to be. Bocas Del Toro is not a place for senior citizens. Nice beaches are always a tweny minute ride away with taxi drivers who usually play loud music and bring along a buddy who they chat with while you sit there as though you don`t exist. If your in your twentys and are a back packer then go for it. Our stay at Valle Escondido in Boquete was the best part of the trip; beautiful lodging, beautiful country with plenty to see and do in near perfect temperatures. The Panamonte Inn has been refurbished and is a really great place to eat. One thing you should remind other travelers to Panama: They have a law that says if you can proove you are 62 years or older you get an automatic 15% discount on restaurant and hotel bills. Thank You.
