Ometepe Island - 2 nights
Day 4 to Day 6

Ometepe is the biggest lacustrine island in the world. It's placed inside Cocibolca lake and it's created by two big active volcanoes. One is Volcan Concepcion, one of the most perfectly conical volcanos in the world. The other end of the island was formed by Volcan Madera. The areas around each volcano are joined by an isthmus that has the best beaches on the island.

Day 1:

Escorted Transfer from Granada to San Jorge's port, located Rivas. Upon arrival at San Jorge, you will board a one hour ride ferry that will take you to the breast of Ometepelt (Ometepe). A local English speaking guide will greet us and will take you on an approximately 30-minute transfer to Villa Paraiso Hotel, located at 'Playa Santo Domingo' Beach. From the moment you arrive to Ometepe you realize that you are in a different world, unique in its kind. The presence of the Volcanoes is constant as life circles around these two colossuses of nature. The Concepcion is a dormant volcano and the Maderas is extinct volcano covered by a deep cloud forest and a lagoon on the top of the crater. The Island was a ceremonial place for ancient Indian culture; because of this many petroglyphs and stone idols are found in different archaeological sites and in the Altagracia town. Ometepe is a soft adventure place. Lunch is included. Overnight at Villa Paraiso Hotel

Day 2:

Breakfast at hotel Villa Paraiso followed by a full day tour to Ometepe Island. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the most interesting places of the island, you will visit the town called Altagracia with its charming little church, the museum ,the stone statues ,a small hike around the mysterious Charco Verde, Punta de Jesus Maria. We will be back in time to see the sunset at the Hotel. Lunch box included on the tour.

Day 3:

Breakfast at the hotel Villa Paraiso and transfer to the Moyogalpa Port in order to take the Ferry ride to San Jorge Port where a representative will meet you to transfer you to your hotel in Managua City or the Managua Airport.

We had a wonderful time everything went well as always. Our hotel on Ometepe, Villa Paraiso, didn`t seem to have an island tour planned for us.They wondered why we were sitting in their lobby area at 8 a.m. so we showed them our paperwork saying we were to do a tour of the island. They told us we had the time wrong and we needed to come back at 9 a.m.We did that and they eventually took us to a museum and to their sister property for a short hike. They brought us back to Villa Paraiso for lunch on our own, our paperwork says lunch is included.In the afternoon, they took us up the road to a farm/small hotel to look petroglyphs, we were back within an hour or so and that finished our tour.We appreciated the time they spent with us and they were nice, but we actually spent most of our day at the resort.This was our only day on the island.We could see that vehicles, guides, etc. were not plentiful so I think they did what they could.Beautiful place to hang out for the day, we just wanted an opportunity to see more of the island but we also realize getting around is slow going and costly for them.Maybe describing this as a full day tour is a little misleading. Resort staff spent about three hours with us and that included drive time.I love your website and having the ability to stay at multiple locations sets you apart from the others, in my opinion.Being able to pick different locations and get the pricing immediately is why I`ve used your services for our last four annual vacations. Thank you for another great vacation to Central America.

It is located 27 miles (45 km) from Managua on the north shore of Lake Nicaragua. The main highway, Managua-Granada, is a scenic route as are the majority of Nicaraguan roads. Once in this colonial city, you have so many different attractions that overnight at Granada is a must.

Managua
In the Nahuati language, Managua means, 'where there is an extension of water.' This aptly describes Nicaragua's bustling capital city, to the north is Lake Managua (Lake Xolotlan), and sparkling volcanic lagoons such as Asososca, Xiloa and Apoyeque surround the city. Lagoon Tiscapa is in the center of Managua. Behind the city is the Momotombo Volcano witch still belches an occasional puff of white smoke.
San Juan del Sur
This is one of the most interesting areas of the country since some of the turning points in history occurred in this city or its surroundings. The first Indian tribes coming from the north established their habitat in the isthmus of Rivas. The United States history also has an important page here. Thousands of Americans crossed from New York to the West Coast via San Juan del Norte, the San Juan River, Lake Nicaragua and San Juan del Sur.
