Trip Summary
2 nights in Soberania National Park

Only 20 minutes from Panama City, the Soberania National Park encompasses more 55,000 acres of tropical forest on the banks of the Panama Canal. The park is a haven for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts, and 1985 held the world record for avian species identified in a 24 hour period. On a historic note, the Camino de Cruces which runs through the park was used by the Spanish conquistadors to transport gold and other cargo from Peru to Spain, so even long before the Canal was built this area was an important thoroughfare for international commerce.

The proximity of Soberania Park to civilization that is simply astounding, considering the preponderance of wildlife thrives here. A walk on one of the Park?s well marked trails can offer views of sloths, and kinkajous in the morning, with plenty of time for lunch in a trendy Panama City restaurant for lunch.

That was a great trip! Thanks for setting us up. We really liked the variety of the 4 stops. Gamboa gave us access to the canal, Bocas to mangrove archipelago, Boquete the coffee country and Playa Bonita the beach. The pace seemed a little fast when we saw the plan, but in reality it was just right.

We enjoyed a wonderful vacation and we`re satisfied with our choice especially with the help of Mr. Victor Rincon. However, we disliked Gamboa Resort. Our room had an annoying musty mildew odor, overpriced bar drinks and limited activities unless you wanted to pay top dollar for overrated tours. In addition, the accommodations at Panama City were not acceptable, paying for a junior suite. The room had painted windows, furniture, fixtures and TV very early 90`s. This hotel needs to update it`s facilities, when the rest of the country is progressing. We will certainly inform our friends and family of the favorable services of LatinDestinations.com. We have used your company to our trips to Peru and Argentina and will continue on later vacations.

Overall the vacation was excellent, very enjoyable, but with room for improvement in some parts. We would have preferred more time in Boquete, and less at Gamboa Rainforest. The hotels were all good: 1. Intercontinental Miramar was very good, typical for luxury hotel 2. Hotel Limbo in Bocas was good, and food was terrific-great atmosphere, very enjoyable, good value, but plumbing system needs improvement (sludge in hot water!!). 3. Los Establos in Boquete was superb, gorgeous location, service was outstanding, rooms were excellent, breakfast excellent. This is a terrific place to stay 4. Gamboa Rainforest Resort was very good, gorgeous location, good food, nice rooms. Tours arranged by tour company were all good: Panama City and Canal tour was excellent All day boat trip at Bocas del Toro was terrific River Rafting trip was great Organized tours available at Gamboa Rainforest resort were very expensive for a family of four, and of mediocre quality. The Resort needs to make a much greater effort to educate people about the rainforest, the guides need to be more knowledgeable about the ecosystems, and the guides need to know and talk about the history of the area. This could be made a much more rewarding place to visit. Yes, we would recommend this tour to friends, but with less time at Gamboa Rainforest, more in Boquete, and possibly and extra day at Bocas del Toro
