Natal is known as City of the Sun or Bride of the Sun, where the sun stands high in the sky for almost 10 hours a day. Book your choice of flight, hotel, transfers plus tours.
Natal is the capital of the State of Rio Grande do Norte. It is a city of extraordinary beaches dotted with tiny fishing villages. The most sought-after beaches are Genipabu and Cotovelo. There are also delightful freshwater beaches along the Potengi River and its falls. The Reis Magos Fort, the birthplace of the city, is definitely worth a visit. On the other side, the beach and reefs form a gigantic, natural aquarium.

Early this morning, you will depart for the beach of Camurupim, which is located just 45 kms south of Natal (one hour away). Camurupim is an almost deserted beach with shallow water and rocks forming waterfalls. It is also surrounded by two of the three parks located in Natal. To the south is the Pontal Aquatic Park and to the north the Park of Tubaroes. You will spend the full day relaxing in this beach and visiting one of the parks.

Depart from your hotel down the Via Costeira, where most hotels of Natal are located. Just behind this coastal road, is Parque das Dunas, the second largest urban forest of Brazil with 1,300 hectares of coastal sand dunes and fields covered by Atlantic rainforest, then you continue to Artistas beach with its sand reefs. From there, you will go to Maio, a broad beach in town protected by a reef and the star-shaped Forte dos Reis Magos, a beautiful 17th century building which exists due to the battles on the coast between the Portuguese and the Dutch. On one side strong waves crash against the rock on which the fort is built. On the other side, the beach and reefs form a gigantic, natural aquarium. It is definitely worth a visit. Afterwards you continue your drive towards the center of town where you will be able to see the old cathedral, which was recently renovated but continues to maintain its colonial charm. You will end the tour at the ancient prison, which has been turned into a tourist center with handicrafts from the Northeast. From there you can see the skyline of Natal and the Potemgi River.

Depart from your hotel early in the morning towards Redinha, a small fishing village on the northern end of the Potengi River that faces Natal. This is the southern tip of the massive beach that makes up the state`s northern coastline. Redinha itself is surprisingly underdeveloped and retains the charm of a simple fishing village, with a tiny chapel and some beachside stalls that fry the freshly caught fish and offer chilled beer to wash them down with. Continue to Genipabu, another quaint fishing village, but these days it has become a haven for buggy riding. All these beaches are notable for their huge shifting sand dunes, many feet high, but they cluster and tower particularly over Genipabu. The massive dunes are spectacular and great fun to run down. It is indescribable to roar up and down them in beach buggies, exhilarating but not for those who get travel sick easily. There are many beach stalls serving fresh seafood for lunch (on your own). After lunch, you will continue along the northern coast to Muriu Beach. From Muriu to Barra do Rio the cars are ferried across the narrow Ceara-Mirim River on a primitive wooden boat, pulled by bamboo rods. Back to the beach and a new sequence of beautiful beaches is found, some of them fishing villages, others for holiday dwellers.
