Customer Feedback
I wanted to start by saying that my experience with you was a very positive one.
The first person that I would thank would be your customer assistant, Gisele Lazaro. I was surprised that after my wife and I booked our trip on-line, that we would be contacted by anyone at all. From the first time Gisele called to ask if there was anything she could help me with, I felt like we were getting some special attention to our trip.
At first I didn`t feel I would need any assistance since I have booked many trips on-line before, and had needed minimal help. But then I found I had many more questions and needed more help then usual because this was turning into a more involved trip. There was an issue with getting the kind of room we wanted at the beginning of our trip, and on our return to Lima before we left. Gisele was able to rebook the hotel room for us at the Miraflores Park Hotel, and saved me about $300. The Miraflores Park Hotel was one of the nicer hotels we have stayed at, and the food was some or the best we have had at any hotel.
Our next stop was to Cuzco to stay at the Monasterio Orient Express Hotel. We had seen this hotel on TV and on-line, but when you arrive there, you see what a special place it is. The old Monastery is a fantastic and historic old building, and again, we had great food.
The day we decided to take a day trip to some of the local ruins and sites, the staff of the hotel set us up with a driver to take us around. They got us a very friendly gentleman to drive us around, for a reasonable price, and I felt he made sure we saw the best sites for the time we would be with him.
The main reason for this trip to Peru in the first place, was to celebrate my wife`s 40th birthday. We wanted to spent the day at Machu Picchu, and wanted to stay at the Sanctuary Lodge. This was another hotel we had seen on TV and on-line. We originally wanted to stay 2 nights, and this was when having Gisele as my assistant came in handy. She went out of her way to try to move around some of our travel days to accommodate us for the extra night we wanted to stay at the Sanctuary Lodge. In the end, it was not possible, but I appreciated the fact that she tried, and she always gave me a phone call to give me any update. And to be quite honest, in the end it was better that we only stayed there for one night. It would have cost us a lot more money, and there is really nothing else to do except spend your time at the ruins of Machu Picchu. We had enough time to visit them three times while we were there, and that was plenty of time for us.
The other part of the trip that was made special for us was the train ride from Cuzco to Machu Picchu on the Hiram Bingham. When I was unsure if we had any transportation to the train station, or when we were to meet up with our guide for Machu Picchu, I needed Gisele`s help again. She was able to quickly find out that we would be picked up at the Monasterio Hotel and taken to the train station by the people from the local tour operator. She found out the time we would be picked up, and we even got a confirmation the night before we left to confirm our pick up time.
We were not aware at the time that our guide would be accompanying us on the train ride. When we were picked up at the Monasterio Hotel, we were greeted by Mary and a driver. Mary spent the whole day with us, and we couldn`t have enjoyed her company more. She is from Cuzco and gave us a lot of interesting information about growing up in the city as only a person that has lived there can. She gave us a lot of historical information we were unaware of, and it was great to spend the time with someone I felt was very knowledgeable and excited about her job. She was also aware that it was my wife`s birthday, and had arranged for some birthday cake to be delivered to our table. The staff on the train sang, and everyone in the car joined in. It was an unexpected surprise, and once again I felt that some special care had been given to our trip.
When we arrived at the Sanctuary Lodge, Mary gave us some time to put our things in our room, and we were ready to go to the ruins within 15 minutes. It was a beautiful day and Mary told us we could spend as much time as we wanted. Mary was very knowledgeable of the history of Machu Picchu. We had done some reading and research before the trip, but hearing stories from a native that had been there countless times, added a better perspective to the whole site. Machu Picchu has to be one of the most incredible sites in the world, and when you are standing there, it is alot to take in at once. Mary walked us around to the most important and scenic areas, and was able to explain what many of the areas were used for. It was very educational, and I definitely feel as if I learned things I would not have discovered without having a guide a wonderful as Mary.
That night at dinner, we were surprised at our table with yet another birthday cake for my wife`s birthday.
The rest of the trip went without any issues. A few more days back at the Monasterio Hotel. Back to the Miraflores Park Hotel in Lima for 2 days. We spent the day before we left in and around Lima, going to a few museums, and doing a little shopping and eating.
Again, my biggest thanks go to Gisele Lazaro for all of her help. She always called me back or emailed me anytime she had some updated information for me, and she was a pleasure to work with.
I also called Gisele when we returned to thank her and tell her much of what I have expressed in this email. We had a very positive experience using the website, and would use you in the future.
