sea level. This mountainous department has a dry and hot weather.
Several ethnic groups like ladinos, white and chortis people live
in this area.
Zacapa is famous
for its church called San Pedro Zacapa and the Santa Maria Hot Springs,
also for the Paleontology, Archeology and Geology Museum "Karl
Sapper", which is 9 km. away from Zacapa in Estanzuela, and
contents pre-historic rests and pieces of pottery and archeological
rests, there you can buy as a souvenir the hand-made textiles. Also you can
visit many tourist centers that Zacapa offers like Turicentro Valle
Dorado, Balneario Pasabien, Balneario Barranco Colorado and Balneario
